The role

Every part we make has to be inspected before it ships, and in precision manufacturing inspection is slow, skilled work. Our robotics team is building a computer vision inspection cell for the shop floor, and this role leads that work.

You will be one of the first engineers in the team, taking vision-based inspection from prototype to a system that runs in production and can be deployed at many sites.

What you'll do

• Design and build the vision inspection cell: cameras, optics, lighting, fixturing and software.
• Develop computer vision and machine learning models to inspect machined parts.
• Build the data pipeline behind them: capture, labelling, training and evaluation.
• Validate results against conventional measurement, and agree with the quality team where vision can be trusted.
• Integrate the cell with MasonOS so results feed the factory's records.

What we're looking for

• Strong computer vision and machine learning engineering experience, with models deployed in the real world rather than only in research.
• Proficiency in Python; C++ is useful.
• Hands-on experience with cameras, optics or imaging hardware.
• An engineer's approach: comfortable building hardware and software together.
• Comfort working on a live factory floor, close to the machinists and inspectors who will use what you build.
