About the job
About the Role
Are you passionate about sustainable technology and modern software engineering? Join our cross-functional team in developing the next generation of energy-efficient heating and cooling solutions. In this role, you will help design, implement, and optimize intelligent control and regulation algorithms for state-of-the-art heat pumps, directly contributing to the global energy transition.
Your contribution
- Shape the future: Develop control and regulation functions for our latest heat pumps, actively driving forward innovative algorithms for energy-efficient, resource-saving heating and cooling systems.
- Take a holistic approach: Guide software functions throughout their full lifecycle—from requirements gathering and concept simulation through to implementation and verification across multiple testing levels (MIL, SIL, HIL).
- Realize model-based software: Design and optimize model-based software functions in Matlab/Simulink for the closed-loop control of thermodynamic and hydraulic systems.
- Implement software: Apply modern software development practices and text-based languages (e.g., C/C++), utilizing modern engineering and AI-assisted tools to advance embedded software modules.
- Validate & test: Commission and test application software on cutting-edge heat pump test benches, supporting rapid prototyping and real-world system validation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work in an international, agile environment, collaborating closely with experts across software, electronics, HMI, hydraulics, and thermodynamics.
What You Bring
- Education: Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Mechatronics, Control Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Process Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical engineering background).
- Core Competencies:
- Solid foundational understanding of control engineering, mechatronic systems, or thermodynamic processes.
- Practical experience in software development—either through model-based development (Matlab/Simulink) or text-based embedded programming (C/C++).
- Working familiarity with software testing or simulation concepts (e.g., MIL, SIL, or HIL).
- Languages: Working proficiency / business fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Mindset: Solution-oriented mindset, strong curiosity for clean energy technologies, and an eagerness to learn and grow within an international team.
Nice to Have
- Several years of dedicated industry experience in embedded software or controls engineering.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, or hydraulic systems.
- Experience with bus protocols and communication interfaces (e.g., CAN, LIN, Modbus, MQTT).
- Familiarity with agile development practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and modern CI/CD tooling (e.g., Git, Jira, Jenkins).
What We Offer
- Impactful Mission: Play an active role in decarbonization and sustainable climate technologies.
- Flexible Working: Flexible working hours and hybrid work options for an optimal work-life balance.
- Continuous Growth: Access to cutting-edge development tools, AI tooling, and tailored technical/language training opportunities.
- Collaborative Culture: An open, appreciative, and international team environment with state-of-the-art laboratory and test bench facilities.
